Convenient Cookies
January 11, 2010
I have no intentions of this blog turning into a blog about recipies or facny shmancy cooking technique but found it absoulutley necessary to share our experiences on making the pefect Sunday afternoon cookie. They take no more than a half hour to make and only require supplies you likely already have in your cupboards. If looking for a super easy, super quick, impossible to mess up cookie, this one tops the charts.
The recipe for these miracle cookies can be found at: Peanut Butter Blossoms Recipe
I could stop there and let you figure the rest out on your own, but figured while you’re here I could share some of my personal tips for transforming these cookies into Peanut BETTER Blossoms (notice use of “better” in place of “butter”, thats the catch).
Tip #1: Try using Hershey’s Special Dark Kisses instead of the normal milk chocolate kind. We actually did this on accident our first try, and loved it so much we kept on using them. Make sure to unwrap the kisses before you start to bake the cookies. You would be suprised how easy it is to overlook this…twice.
Tip #2: Timing has to be exact on these things. As soon as that timer hits 10 minutes, yank that oven door open and grab the cookie sheet. Once you set down the sheet, immediately start placing the kisses into the cookies.
Tip #3: A Cooling rack is a must for these things. we actually didn’t have a cooling rack so we ended up using a grated piece of metal intended to put on your grill to fry vegetables. Another one of Laura’s ingenious ideas. Put the cookies on the cooling rack as soon as the kisses are seated in the cookie. They should be cooled by the time your next batch comes out of the oven.
Tip #4: Enjoy with a glass of milk, while on the couch, with your wife or husband, watching your favorite TV show, and your dog so close to your plate you can count the number of whiskers on his muzzle. We have found this is the only way to truly enjoy the experience to its fullest.
Well friends there you have it. Next time you have a half hour make a batch or three and don’t forget to tell us about all the fun you had making them for the first time! Enjoy!
